KARL MARX 1818-1883
Came to London 1849 as a political exile.Co-author of the Communist Manifesto and author of Das Capital.Also his daughter Eleanor is buried here.The Marx family were originally buried about a hundred yards to the south, but were moved to their present position in 1954,and the monument errected in 1956
CHRISTINA ROSSETTI 1830-1894
Poet,writing in both English and Italian.Goblin Market and In the Bleak Mid-winter are well known
GEOGE ELLIOT 1819-1880
Pseudonm of Mary Anne Evans.Author of Adam Bede (1859) Middlemarch (1871-72)and other novels.Lived with G.H.Lewis, 1854-78 and married J.W.Cross shortly before her death.
